Boards of Canada remix
Boards of Canada. Who doesn’t appreciate the output of the 2 gifted brothers. We are still patiently awaiting new work since the release of the 2006 EP “Trans Canada Highway“. Early 2012 the word came out that a new studio album was being in the works. The one word reply “yes” to a fan’s direct question on Facebook was food for thought for the countless fans wanting something new…
This wasn’t the only source for rumours. BBC Radio 6 DJ Peter Serafinowicz‘s, who is said to be a friend of the duo, announced the following on his radio show:
They've got a new album coming out soon and I think it's gonna be a double album and I'm so excited
But since these announcements is has been quiet. Too quiet… Fortunately Boards of Canada is not only an inspiration to listeners around the world, but also still an example for many contemporary electronic music producers. Recently Machinedrum surprised us with an edit of a bootleg recording of one of Board of Canada’s extremely rare live performances… And what a great gift it turned out to be. Although it is a big risk touching the perfectly composed BoC tunes, more artists are giving it a try. And who can blame them, we all just need more!
Boards of Canada – Zoetrope (Jap Jap Reinterpretation)
As we are eagerly awaiting this next release you might want to check out Jap Jap’s remix. Also inspired by Boards of Canada and the chillout electronica genres he reinterpreted the track “Zoetrope” back in 2005. The minimal continuous flow of mezmerising synths inspired him to build upon, but it was never revealed on the web… Until now!
