Funkin’ the suburbs
Jap Jap revealed 2 new productions that are quite different in style. Dune Lakes & Koala are moving in a more uptempo direction and built on a combination of electro & the art of dropping heavy bass, meanwhile looking inward. The difference here is that the shoegaze & dream-pop structures that dominate Jap Jap’s signature style albums are swapped out for stabs at post dubstep and other dance oriented electronic sub-genres.
Jap Jap utilizes more conventional pop structures that are wrapped in shoegaze synths and layers of atmosphere. Club-ready moments split time with gentle atmospheric grime-inflected pop. It bounces along with muscular energy without ignoring the warm astral qualities.

Since these experimentation outputs won’t be part of the new album Jap Jap is currently working on, these 2 tracks were made available for free on his Soundcloud page under the working title “Funkin’ the Suburbs”. Get them while they’re hot!
